 Ca y est, les dernières parcelles de Cabernet Sauvignon ont été vendangées Vendredi 16 Octobre sous un soleil radieux et un petit vent du Nord Est frisquet.
Que de superlatifs va engendrer ce millésime 2009 !
Nous cherchons tous en vain des références dans nos archives, mais il semble que seuls les plus anciens vinificateurs trouveront des antécédents comparables à cette année bénie des dieux. Certains évoquent le 1949 voire le 1947, tous deux millésimes d’anthologie !
Cette année, depuis le printemps et un départ de végétation à une date somme toute assez normale, autour de la première semaine d’Avril, les conditions climatiques furent particulièrement marquées par un ensoleillement généreux. A part Avril plutôt pluvieux et couvert, tous les autres mois jusqu’à aujourd’hui présentent un ensoleillement largement supérieur à la moyenne trentenaire et par conséquent des températures sensiblement plus élevées.

 After more than a month of hard work, we have just finished running off the vats.
The first Merlots are already in malolactic fermentation, some vats are even finished, while the remaining Cabernet Sauvignons are waiting for the alchemy to happen.

 On September 30th, the first merlots of Patache d'Aux were harvested.
Anthocyan and tannic levels, which we observed during sampling in the vineyard, were confirmed.

 The 2008 harvest should start at the beginning of October.
Nature makes things right, and the capricious weather of August should be offset by the sunshine of September.
The levels of anthocyanins are higher than those of 2007, with berries substantially the same weight.
This suggests a harvest of great quality, but with volumes lower than those of past years.
