Sehr dunkles auffallendes Granat mit violettem Chimmer. Intensives Bouquet, aber auch eine kühle, etwas erdige Cabernet-Note zeigend. Saftiger, feiner Gaumen, viel schwarze Beeren, Black Currant, langes Rück-aroma, Finessen und Kraft. Ein toller Wert.

Dark, smoky hints of coffee. Rip, thick, chewy fruit, dry finish. Hints of chocolate. Nicely balanced and should soften well.

Beautiful red robe with orange reflects. When agitated, it offers a powerful and complex bouquet of black fruits, sweet spices, moka and wood. Fleshy in mouth, it presents aromas of mushrooms, black liquorice, blackcurrant, prunes in "eau de vie" and vanilla cocoa.

To drink now or within 5 years with roasted poultry.

Steady robe. Nice nose associating fruits sauces, floral perfumes and a discreet woody background. In mouth, a nice concentration of pure fruits. Tannins are mellow and favour the aromatic expression. Pleasant finish with notes of spices, wood and chocolate.

A nice wine without any flaws with an easy access for novices. A cuvée coming from merlot, cabernet sauvignon, petits verdot and cabernet francs whose vines are 35 years old.

More powerful evolution in regards to sweet spices and pepper. A fruit finish that makes it the success of this vintage.

This regular cru bourgeois proposes a 1996 vintage that is as delicious as the wonderful 1982.

This wine has a large proportion of Cabernets Sauvignon and the 1996 is generously wooded. Obviously coming from ripe fruits, it is dense and presents blackcurrants and mint aromas. A nice vintage to be drunk in 5 to 7 years.

The wines of this property hold their own with the most illustrious "cru" but two or three times less expensive.

This nice property of 43 hectares favours the Cabernet Sauvignon (70%). In constant progression, this wine never wins for its full body but more for its finesse. It is perfectly reprentative of what we would expect from a nice well vinified Médoc.

Its fruited nose, mellow and nice, gives off beautiful flower and liquorice notes. The generous and fruited mouth, easy but extremely harmonious, is elegant.

The robe is steady garnet red, with youth reflects. A young nose of blackcurrants and violet and the evolution is on black fruit lightly spiced. A supple attack in mouth that reveals a certain power. Wood is present on the finish. Our point of view: a very young Médoc with a good potential in a good vintage.

Patache d'Aux est l'un des petits châteaux que je préfère dans le Bordelais.

Les vins qu'il donne sont généralement moyennement corsé, élégants, doux et ronds, débordant de généreux arômes de cassis herbacé. Le 1995 est légèrement plus sec et austère que le 1996 plus gras, plus riche et plus charnu. Tous deux sont capables d'une garde de 4 à 5 ans.

Châteaux with humble pedigrees can surprise you in a year of heat and drought, especially if they have moisture-retentive soil that better-know estates lack. That certainly is the case with the 2003 vintage in Bordeaux. Following are somme terrific, intensely concentrated wines from the vintage.

Patache d'Aux : How to be original in the Médoc region :
This wine is amongst those which are very close to "Cru Classés". And it gets better and better each year. It became a classic Médoc that you can find on each and every menus of Belgium and North of France restaurants.

The "Patache" is the diligence that is reprensented on the label. And the content guides you on the same delightful ways.

The tannic richness of this 95 Médoc imposes itself to the palate at the first drop, it will gain a lot with aging. Mellow tannins will appear with a structured balance, with fruit aromas and a subbtle chocolate finish. Time will add elegance without changing its originality.

Presenting in a beautiful red robe, the 97 is nice in its bouquet with vanilla and fruited notes as well as in its structure, round and tannic. A nice bottle that deserves to be aged about three years.

A nice name relating to the time of diligences, the "Patache d'Aux". With 20% of Merlot, 77% of Cabernet and 3% of petits Verdots, this wine is born on a chalky and clayey soil and has a nice personality combining a bouquet of ripe red fruit and silky tannins on the palate. It presents a good potential for aging.

Faithful to its tradition, the château proposes a good wine. Dressed with a perfect robe, this 99 displays a very intense bouquet to express itself at rest, before evolving toward a red fruit and woody cocktail. It respects nature and announces a good potential, staying round and fleshy.

Bordeaux presents the wine drinker with a contradiction. Either promising wine with an intermiable wait, or uninspiring wine ready to pour now.

Medoc's Patache d'Aux is a delightful solution to the dilemma. Ready now, the berry-scented 03 is an alluring wine with lovely, concentrated cherry flavors. Medium-bodied with good, stiff tannins and a very respectable finish.

Sure, you'll have to live without creosote, leather and lead pencil, but you'll have your Bordeaux and a bit of instant gratification too.
