Château Liversan

Cru Bourgeois Supérieur

Haut-Médoc

Presentation

liversan.jpgLocated in the area of Saint Sauveur next to Pauillac, the vineyard has included Château Liversan and Château Fonpiqueyre since the XVIIIth century.

The soil made of gravel limestone on a chalk subsoil acts as a filter favouring the vines' roots.

Classified as Cru Bourgeois in 1932 this estate was formerly owned by the Marquis de Latresne at the XVIIIth century and by the Prince Guy de Polignac from 1984 until the take over by the Lapalu family.

The rather feminine character of these wines is expressed through rich tannins although strongly structured and with a great aromatic complexity.

Château Liversan - DECANTER
2007-01-05

Date : novembre 2006

Sweet ripe fruit, matched to oak. Ripe but reassuringly dry. Long and confident. 5-10 years.

NOTATION : 14.5

Château Liversan - WINE INTERNATIONAL
2007-01-05

This is stewy stuff, with tough tannins and some dark plummy fruit. It will never be stylish but may be an attractive, slightly jammy wine, given time.

NOTATION : 84-87

Château Liversan 1996 - LA REVUE DU VIN DE France
2007-01-05

Date : May 1999

Elaborated by our new team, this wine displays a robe of average density. The discreet nose offers a nice fruity, associated with vanilla notes, while the palate gives off a certain richness.

Even though tannins might still seem a little bit aggressive, the finesse of the cru is incredible.

Château Liversan 1996 - THE WINE ADVOCATE
2007-01-05

Date : avril 2000

2007-01-05

Date : 2002

Property of Prince Guy de Polignac, this "cru" is now cultivated by the GIE "The Three Chateaux". A good system for this wine whose robe is deep red and very promising.

This wine holds well at the palate developping tannins with roasted notes and ripe grapes.

Château Liversan 1999 - GUIDE HACHETTE
2007-01-05

Date : 2003

Toady, under the Lapalu family's rule, this property offers a wine of a red fruit bouquet and a well composed palate. Tannins are sleek and mellow and will allow the wine to age 2 to 3 more years.

NOTATION : *

Commanded by a beautiful Bordeaux style residence, this "cru" proposes a nice wine marked by oak maturing (liquorice and vanilla) where the bouquet appears to the palate with a gentle structure that will allow the fruit aromas to express fully.

Château Liversan 2003 - WINE ENTHUSIAST - WINE BUYING GUIDE
2007-01-05

The improvement in this once-moribund estate in recent years has been astouding.

This 2003 continues the trend, packed with almost opulent red fruits and balancing vanilla flavors, with a good layer of dusty tannins. There is fine acidity to finish, and the promise of good aging potential.

NOTATION : 90

This is young for a red Bordeaux, but the warmth of the vintage has produced a textured, Merlot-based red that's smooth, polished and drinkable now.

Château Liversan 2003 - PARKER ON WINE
2007-01-05

Châteaux with humble pedigrees can surprise you in a year of heat and drought, especially if they have moisture-retentive soil that better-know estates lack.

That certainly is the case with the 2003 vintage in Bordeaux. Following are some terrific, intensely concentrated wines from the vintage.

They prove that not all Bordeaux wines are incredibly expensive : they're all between 14 $ and 25 $ a bottle.

Château Liversan 2003 - WINE SPECTATOR

Château Liversan 2004 - GUIDE HACHETTE 2008
2008-09-29

Le Château LiversanRich and structured, this is a sturdy wine that shows good dry fruit tannins as well as wood. The blackberry fruit is open, ripe, giving a good juicy character and depth of flavor. This is a wine for 2–3 years’ aging.
